Parents

Child writing at school with help from teacher.

The occupational therapists at Manchester OT work closely in partnership with parents who may be concerned about their child’s development and how it is affecting their performance in everyday tasks. Our occupational therapists are able to help find solutions that may minimise the difficulties your child may be experiencing.

Services we provide

There are a variety of services that Manchester OT can offer parents, including:

1:1 treatment

Our occupational therapists can provide one on one treatment to your child in the home, school or clinic environment depending on your preference.

Groups

Manchester OT provides children with the opportunity to develop in a group setting amongst those with similar difficulties and of similar ages and abilities. We offer a range of paediatric groups including:

Fine Motor Improvment:

This group is aimed at improving the coordination and strength of the hands which is required for carrying out fine motor movements

Handwriting:

This group focuses on improving the core aspects that underline handwriting including legibility, spacing, alignment, visual perception, posture and pencil grip

Movement and Co-ordination:

This group is designed for those who have difficulty producing fluent and accurate gross motor movements and require input aimed at improving balance and coordination

Concentration and Memory:

This group is aimed at implementing strategies and techniques to improve concentration and memory to boost performance in the school and/or home environment

Hydrotherapy:

This group uses the principles of heat and buoyancy and antigravity positioning to develop your childs core stability and muscle strength

These groups are aimed at different areas of child development and can be particularly beneficial to those with low confidence. These groups are a great way for children to interact with others, without feeling intimidated by the prospect of one on one therapy. The groups we offer are led by two experienced occupational therapists and run throughout the year.
